Yuksam: After long break i had been to Yuksam. I’m here at the first capital of Sikkim. Its
name derived from the legendary story; meeting place of three lamas. The evidence
can be seen at the little hill lock behind the small market. It is base for
Mount Kanchenjunga trek. Yuk- means monks and Sam – means three in Lepcha
language. In the beginning of 17th century three Lamas (monks from
Kham (present day Tibet) came southward to establish new Buddhist kingdom. According
to their forecast they meet here at place called Norbugang (now Yuksam). So, in
1642, first king of Bye-yul Demojong, Chogyal Phunchok Namgyal was consecrated.
The evidence of palace can be seen in ruins till date. Nearby there is Dubdi
monastery, one of the oldest monastery in Sikkim.
After 7
kms drive on way to Pelling from Yuksam, a miraculous stone can be seen. It is
rock resembled like old age stone grinder. The upper portion sound like bronze.
Its metal sound derived its name as Ting Ting.
When anybody visit these route can visit the site.
